Freddy Got Fingered (A Broadway Joint Screening) / 2001/ USA/ Dir: Tom Green / 87 Min/ Current Rotten Tomatoes Score: 12%
Decried upon release as unintelligible and sophomoric malarkey, Tom Green's debut film has since gone on to be reevaluated by many as a masterwork of punk-rock-cinema-trash and a heroic public blow-torching of 14 Million of 20th Century Fox's dollars, Prairie Records and The Broadway Theatre would like to invite you to make that assessment for yourself and to ask yourself once and for all:
“Daddy would you like some sausage?”
Gord Brody (Tom Green) is a struggling cartoonist trying to pitch an animated show to Hollywood executives. When he fails, he returns to his hometown with no choice but to live with his parents and younger brother, Freddy (Eddie Kaye Thomas). His father (Rip Torn) doesn't approve of Gord's career path, and pressures him to gain independence. As father and son exchange barbs, Gord comes up with a lie so egregious that the Broadway Theatre has elected to remove it from this otherwise canned studio synopsis.
