"I'm not even supposed to BE here today!"
And with that, permanently exasperated manchild Dante Hicks begins another day at his Leonardo, New Jersey, Quick Stop convenience store, woken from his weekend slumber to fill in for a sick coworker. The morning starts off pretty much like you'd expect: the front window shutters are stuck closed with chewing gum, local slacker drug dealers Jay and Silent Bob are loitering out front as usual, and cynical friend Randal is scaring off customers with wildly inappropriate comments at the next-door RST Video.
But thanks to the appearance of a pushy cigarette rep, Dante's girlfriend, an unexpected wake, a dead guy in the bathroom, a hockey game on the roof, and a long-overdue epiphany, Dante just might make this a most atypical day, finally grow up, and become a mature adult...if he doesn't get thrown in jail first.
Created for $27,000 and grossing over $3 million, CLERKS was Kevin Smith's first full-length film and the intro to what would eventually become his sprawling and popular View Askew-niverse.
This is a Broadway Joint screening generously presented by our good buds with great bud, Prairie records, (conveniently located across the street from us at 720 Broadway Ave!) and is therefor a 19+ event.
