Don't Leave the Kids Alone / Mexico / 2025/ Dir: Emilio Portes/ 97 Min
DON’T LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE (Spanish: NO DEJES A LOS NIÑOS SOLOS) is a 2025 Mexican psychologicalhorror from director Emilio Portes. Set in a late’80s, the story follows Catalina (Ana Serradilla), a recently widowed mother who moves into a new house with her two sons, Mati (Juan Pablo Velasco) and Emi (Ricardo Galina). One night, Catalina attends a party and leaves the boys alone. At first, they delight in having the house to themselves, bickering over the video game console and testing the boundaries. But as the night deepens, a sinister force seems to manipulate their fears, amplify their rivalry, and blur the lines between imagination and dread. Portes layers classic haunted house images with psychological anxiety and sibling dynamics, to create a claustrophobic, unpredictable horror tale. DON’T LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE is the single Dark Bridges Film Festival takeover in this year’s SFFF, and the most tense horror film you will see all year.
