The Saskatoon Concert Band Presents: Dreamin' of the Tropics

Escape the winter chill and journey south through vibrant rhythms and sun-soaked melodies when the Saskatoon Concert Band presents Dreamin’ of the Tropics on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Broadway Theatre.

This lively evening of music celebrates the rich colours and dance traditions of Latin America and the Caribbean. Audiences will be treated to an energetic and varied program featuring works by some of the region’s most celebrated composers, alongside evocative arrangements for concert band.

Highlights include Arturo Márquez’s spirited Danzón No. 2, the sweeping folkloric landscapes of H. Owen Reed’s La Fiesta Mexicana, and the driving rhythms of José Pablo Moncayo’s iconic Huapango. The program also features Danza Final from Ginastera’s Estancia, the exuberant march Zacatecas by Genaro Codina, and a set of Latin American Dances by Clifton Jameson Jones, showcasing salsa, bossa nova, and rumba styles.

Adding a Caribbean flavour to the evening are Jamaica Farewell and Jacob de Haan’s Caribbean Variation on a Tune, rounding out a concert that promises warmth, colour, and rhythmic vitality.

Tickets are priced at $25 for adults and $15 for students and seniors, with free admission for children under eight. Seating is general (rush) seating, and doors open at 6:30 p.m. All ticket sales are final.
