The Salt Shaker Festival!

The Salt Shaker Festival is coming July 8th and 9th to Manitou Beach with live music at a variety of venues in the height of summer! Block off the 2nd weekend in July in your calendar and join us for a shake'n'bakin salty good time celebrating some of the best live music on the prairies in the most beautiful beach town from here to Tofino!

Veneer Veneer

Veneer’s enchanting trifecta of sentimental souls create a universe of music that is soft, strong, and blatantly vulnerable. This multi-instrumental gaggle of creators is not your typical three-piece; accompanied by brass and woodwind instrumentals, and wielding six instruments in total, Veneer’s enticing harmonies and haunting hooks will have their tunes stuck in your head for days. Veneer was formed by longtime pals and musical partners Sam Sarty (Living Hour) and Talula Schlegel (PC Cherry) in August 2016, sharing vocal duties on a song recorded for a compilation album released later that year. Veneer quickly began attracting attention from local promoters and sought out drummer and vocalist Claire Boning (Basic Nature) as the steadfast final addition to the band. Veneer has since developed a loyal following with their playful, tender, and captivating live performances.

Ezra Harvey Ezra Harvey

Ezra Harvey is a trans non-binary Indigenous musician with an unforgettably unique voice. Their gritty voice bleeds passion, every word drawing you in. Sticking to no specific genre or sound, most of their music is created from hours with their loop pedal and pages of lyrics written on yellow note pads at their home on Treaty 6. Ezra is a self-taught musician and singer-songwriter who draws inspiration from artists including Jim James, Amy Winehouse, Patsy Cline, and Brittany Howard. Having experience in bands like Chunder Buffet as well as being a solo musician, Ezra loves sharing music with folks. Whether it be jamming with friends, playing an intimate house show, or letting loose on stage, they know how to make an impact on hearts. Moving more than just people, Ezra’s dog Roux peacefully dozes off every time they play guitar at home, making the two a perfect match. Ezra is currently working towards recording more music and is excited to share some of their new tunes with the sweet folks at Salt Shaker Festival!

Micah Jane & Peace Akintade Micah & Peace

“COSMOS,” a collaboration between poet Peace Akintade-Oluwagbeye and musician Micah Jane, is an epic display of what it means to be human. Peace and Micah were selected to partake in an artist residency facilitated by the Saskatoon Forestry Farm entitled ‘The Bunkhouse Project’. During their time in Residence, they wrote and directed COSMOS as a way to share the work they have been creating over the past three months. This deeply personal showcase uses an immersive blend of songwriting and spoken word poetry to tell the coming of age stories of two young emerging artists. With themes of nature, climate change, and good vs evil, COSMOS is a profound visual experience that will leave the audience eager for more.
