The true story of when Johnny Cash came to the Saskatoon Arena in 1957! A live music documentary told through stories, photos, and music.
Step back in time and experience Canada’s forgotten chapter in Rock and Roll history – when legendary Sun Records recording artists Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins exploded onto stages across Western Canada at the peak of the golden era! Less than five months after their famous Million Dollar Quartet session with Elvis Presley, these three Sun Records boys joined forces with Wanda Jackson, the Queen of Rockabilly, and the four wild young musicians headed out in their classic cars to hone their stage act up in the Canadian prairies and Rocky Mountains in the spring of 1957.
With Johnny Cash & The Rockabillies, this historic rockabilly roadtrip is brought back to life using classic guitars, historic photos, and masterful storytelling that brings audiences along for the ride. Tales from the dawn of their careers, revealing each of their formative relationships with Elvis, weave together timeless anthems like “Folsom Prison Blues”, “I Walk the Line”, “Blue Suede Shoes”, “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” and many others from the 1957 tour. The music and cultural influence of Elvis intertwines the destinies of future Hall of Famers Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Wanda Jackson in a one-man rockabilly spectacle where legendary songs, untold local history, and nostalgia collide!
