Directed by David Cronenberg, THE FLY is a landmark of body horror. The film stars Jeff Goldblum as Seth Brundle, a brilliant but eccentric scientist who successfully invents "Telepods" for instant matter transportation. During a late-night solo test, a common housefly slips into the pod with him. The computer becomes confused and fuses their DNA at a molecular level. What follows is a slow, agonizing metamorphosis as Brundle gradually loses his humanity—physically and mentally—to become a monstrous hybrid.
